Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty Website Redeveloped

The Howardian Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty has relaunched it's new website which is packed full of features for people living, working and planning to visit the area.

The old Howardian Hills website was designed and developed by Bronco back in the first quarter of 2003, and 4 years on it needed updating and redesigning. The first task that we had was to get the design right for the site and find a good way for the superb photos we were provided with to be displayed. The menu layout makes it easy to navigate the site, and from the home page there are many different sections that the site visitor can get to.

The Howardian Hills team asked Bronco to redevelop the entire site and include new functionality to make it easier for them to update and add to the content. We built for them a very easy to use Content Management System (CMS) that allows for the pages on the site to be edited and added to, as well as new pages added to the website. This not only controls the text but also the page images as well. If you are able to use any word processing package such as Microsoft Word then you will easily get the hang of a CMS such as this.

The other aspect that the Howardian Hills AONB needed was an interactive map to allow visitors to the area to find facilities and places of interest easily. We developed a directory system which integrates into Google Maps that plots the directory listings directly onto the map. The directory of B & B's, Guesthouse, Walks, Places of Interest can be added to over time to bring in even more information.

The Bronco development team always enjoy these challenges when it involves taking an old and dated website and bringing it up to todays standards in both design and functionality.
